Because of my interests in both graphic design and photography, and because of the intrinsic presence of language in both disciplines, I studied the role of typography in the photograph. I focused on typography in photography through the lens of graphic designers and photographers, analyzing how creatives in each of these fields use typography in their work. My initial investigations included the following:
The formal image
v.
The implied message
How photographers use type and image
v.
How graphic designers use type and image
Meaning

Context
How photographers interpret type and image

How graphic designers interpret type and image
All research, makings, and findings are included in this book.
